Underwood is a former coal mining village in Ashfield close to Bagthorpe, Westwood, and Selston villages. This hilltop village is included in the beautiful countryside of the Hidden Valleys area, which has miles of waymarked rural walks, cycle paths, and bridleways.

One of the most popular attractions to visit in Underwood is the peaceful 2.5 acre garden of Felley Priory, where visitors can enjoy the gorgeous countryside views and discover the plant nursery. Head to The Farmhouse Tea Room at Felley Priory that offers a selection of light lunches, snacks, and drinks with gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan food.

Underwood is a great place for a walk or cycle where visitors can admire the pretty countryside scenery, and stop off for a drink or food at one of its lovely country pubs. Underwood is also home to the Underwood Miners Welfare Cricket Club, in Church Lane, which was created in 1894.
