The Route
The Testing for Gas walking trail starts at Brierley Forest Park, Huthwaite, and weaves its way to Silverhill Wood through the Silverhill Trail. Hikers will appreciate the green parks and woodlands on this gorgeous route that features the best countryside scenery of Ashfield. To extend the route, you can add the delightful National Trust property of Hardwick Hall to the trail. 

Places to Visit
Climb the hills of Silverhill Wood to reach the summit and admire the area’s famous memorial statue of a Nottinghamshire miner, known locally as Dave. The bronze sculpture is located on one of the highest points in the county where visitors can view former mining villages, and on a bright day see Lincoln Cathedral in the distance.
