Sutton Lawn is a popular, picturesque park on the former Sutton Hall site with woodland, grassed areas, and beautiful avenues of trees. The Green Flag Award winning park, also known as The Lawn, offers a range of fun activities for all ages including a skate park/BMX park, bowling green, multi-use games area, 3G synthetic pitch, outdoor gym, tennis courts and toddler and junior play areas. The park’s lake is popular with anglers, and visitors can also get some fresh air and exercise on the circular 1k path ideal for walkers, runners and cyclists. To enjoy some home-cooked food and refreshments, head to the park’s café.
Sutton Lawn is part of Mill Waters, found between Sutton in Ashfield and Mansfield, and with Kings Mill Reservoir and Hermitage Ponds forms part of the green space network along the River Maun Corridor. Learn about the free 2k junior parkrun held every Sunday at 9am at Sutton Lawn.
The Lawn Pleasure Grounds encompass the grounds of the former Sutton Hall, built as the residence of merchant hosier, Samuel Unwin, and the land associated with his nearby Cotton Spinning Mill and Mill Lake. Sutton Hall and most of the mill complex no longer exist, but the mill ruins and adjacent lake form the focal features of the park today.
