Library Innovation Centres
Various locations
Project summary
Investing into the libraries to create multi-use hubs for learning, digital skills and community uses.
In Detail
The Library Innovation Centres for Kirkby and Sutton libraries will help support residents through multi-use hubs that encourage innovation, learning, and community activity, as well as cultural programmes.
Kirkby Library opened a new learning and meeting space in June 2023, which was created on the upper floor of the building offering digital access.
Sutton Library’s refurbishment works are planned for 2026 and will provide a venue for small business conferences, seminars, and networking through the refurbishment of a disused lecture theatre.
Both Kirkby and Sutton Innovation Centres will provide an employability hub, and a mobile unit will be used to offer digital learning in areas outside of the town centre. Community activity will include coffee and chat sessions.
