High Pavement House
Sutton in Ashfield
PROJECT STATUS: Complete. MakerSpace to open spring 2024
REGENERATION STRAND: Town Centres & High Streets
ADDRESS: 70 High Pavement, Sutton in Ashfield, NG17 1BT
High Pavement House is a new hub for business and innovation with a ground floor workshop space with professional equipment for creating, crafting, and making, and a business space on the first floor with lettable units and a communal kitchen, meeting space, and high-speed internet. Energy efficient measures were installed at the building, including air-source heat pumps, as well as insulation and photovoltaic panels on the roof.
The site was a former Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) building and is being refurbished as part of the £6.27 million secured by the council from the Future High Streets Fund. The first floor now houses 14 modern office units, which are ready to be let to start ups, established businesses, and people looking for a professional workspace.
To help businesses flourish at High Pavement House, Ashfield District Council are offering a rent relief grant to offset the first three months rent. The grants, funded by the Council’s £3.2million UK Shared Prosperity Fund, range from £250 - £960, depending on the size of the unit.
High Pavement House is also home to Ashfield’s MakerSpace that is set to open in spring 2024 found on the ground floor and basement of the building. This is a workshop space for like-minded people to share tools, equipment, and skills, as well as a podcast studio. The MakerSpace gives users access to professional equipment and tools from woodworking, metalworking, 3D printing and electronics, to digital embroidery, ceramics, textiles, and printmaking.
