Titchfield Park

Titchfield Park is an award-winning Green Flag park that is a 10-minute walk from Hucknall town centre and is a place that has something for everyone. The 24-acre park is filled with sports facilities including a multi-use games area, a skate park, floodlit five-a-side synthetic football pitch, and a bowling green – which is home to Titchfield Park Bowls Club.

Families can head to the children’s play area and enjoy Titchfield Park Café, and visitors can also wander through the green space’s wildflower meadow and its bee garden. The park also contains two listed structures: a war memorial and the Zachariah Green monument, and also has an original shelter designed by Hucknall-born architect Thomas Cecil Howitt, known as the Boathouse. History
Titchfield Park was created when the Duke of Portland gave 11 acres of land, then known as Caddow Park, to the town of Hucknall in 1914. This was to honour the 21st birthday of his son, the Marquis of Titchfield. A further 13 acres were added when the Hucknall Miners Welfare Committee decided to further the development of Titchfield Park from funds raised to provide facilities for the local miners. The original brief of the committee was the park should be set out to provide for cricket, football, bowls and tennis courts with trees, shrubs and flowers planted all around. The design, drawn up by J.W. Bardill, also included a bandstand, tearooms, a pavilion building, shelters and caretaker's lodge. The works were held up by the outbreak of the First World War and the Marquis finally performed the opening ceremony in July 1922.

By car: Exit at junction 26 on the M1. Take the A6002 and Nottingham Road to Hucknall.
