Kirkby Plan for Neighbourhoods

Kirkby in Ashfield

Kirkby Neighbourhood Plan

You may be aware that Kirkby was allocated £19.5m funding through the Long Term Plan programme.  This was announced in 2024.

During May 2024, over 340 residents and businesses completed a questionnaire on Kirkby to help decide how the money should be spent. The Kirkby Town Board (now known as the Kirkby Neighbourhood Board) reviewed the feedback received and developed a shortlist of projects.

Throughout June 2024, a second survey was completed by over 400 residents and businesses.  This provided the opportunity for local people to prioritise the projects they thought would have the most benefit to people living, working and learning in Kirkby.

This funding was then put on hold, and was reviewed by Central Government.  The programme has now been relaunched, and includes the introduction of additional interventions focused on Housing, Work, productivity & skills, Health and, Education & opportunity.

The Kirkby Neighbourhood Board is keen to hear your views.  Everyone who completes a survey and provides an e-mail address has the option to enter a prize draw to win one of 10, £50 shopping vouchers.

There are two surveys available:

Kirkby Neighbourhood Full Survey:

This survey is for people who have not yet taken the opportunity to share their views on the funding.  It details the projects developed from the initial community engagement and asks you to prioritise the ones you feel would benefit the people of Kirkby.  It also provides an opportunity to share new ideas with the Board.

Kirkby Neighbourhood Short Survey:

This survey is for people who have already expressed their views on the projects via the previous surveys, and would like an opportunity to share their thoughts on the additional elements introduced in the revised programme. It also provides an opportunity to share new ideas with the Board.

Giving your feedback will only take a few minutes and will help shape the future of the area.

The three themes for the fund are:

Thriving places
Places should have public services that are accessible, responsive, and tailored to local need.
Stronger communities
The root causes of division and disengagement should be tackled. A collective sense of belonging should be developed, with people coming together and feeling proud and safe in their neighbourhood.
Taking back control
People should be empowered to enter the workplace, workers to progress, and businesses to grow to help kickstart local economic growth.
