David works as a locality director in the clinical commissioning group. He started his career as a nurse and it’s his values for an equitable society that drives him; putting patients and people at the heart of everything he does. He is currently leading the development of primary care networks where GP practices come together in new ways to help tackle health deprivation through brining system partners together in ways that find solutions to improve people’s overall well-being. He has worked in this area of Nottinghamshire for six years, local to the county all his life, David describes himself as energetic, understanding and keen to listen to people’s views. He is an ambassador for Ashfield and feels proud of the work being done collectively.

Positive Experience about Ashfield: In the 18 years I’ve been involved with sports development I’ve achieved so much, I’ve become a Coach, Tutor, Assessor, Classifier and Access Auditor. I have had and still have the privilege of working with many fantastic people, I’ve had the privilege of developing people and changing their lives. However this wouldn’t have happened with the right people in the right place supporting me. I’ve have the privilege of sitting on many groups, boards, panels, I currently chair the Ashfield Health and Wellbeing Partnership, as part of this I sit on the Discover Ashfield Board. I believe that nothing can stop us achieving what we want to achieve, I’ve studied hard, taken help when needed to, we all have abilities, and we all have a role in helping to develop those abilities and the people who have them.

Interesting Fact: I am originally from Rossington South Yorkshire and moved to Nottingham in 1990. In 1995 I started training for Lay Ministry within the Church of England I was licensed in 1997, 23 years on and I’m still active.

Positive Experience about Ashfield: When I first came to work in Nottinghamshire ( from South Wales ) Ashfield was the first place I came to and got slightly lost in trying to attend a launch. The kindness and willingness of people to help a stranger find their way is always an indicator of a place , and on that day the people of Ashfield were exceptionally helpful and kind.

Interesting Fact: As someone who has managed a number of museums, galleries, libraries and archives the most interesting thing I have had to manage were a set of floating exhibits (6 ships).

Professor Sharon Huttly joined NTU in April 2020 as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Development and Performance and is responsible for development, enhancement and innovation of teaching and learning; management of the Executive Deans who lead NTU’s nine Academic Schools; academic oversight of the strategic planning cycle; and senior sponsorship of NTU’s Mansfield and Ashfield development programme.

Sharon was previously Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and EDI at Lancaster University, and Dean of Studies at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine at the University of London. She has an extensive disciplinary background in statistics and epidemiology.
